August 2013

Hello everybody,
I have been meaning to blog since the beginning of August,  just as soon as I had made the samples for the 'Black and White and...' class and time has gone by so quickly, that here we are only three weeks to go before the very class takes place...
I seem to have had a mental block regarding cards at the moment and have thrown a couple in the bin. Black and white seem to be a bit hard as I usually like to use lots of coloured paper and ribbons etc. There are plenty about that I am itching to use. It's always a good idea to go and do something else if the brain isn't co-operating in the card area...So I have been in the garden, although on occasion it has been a little wet while building a pergola with the help of Hubbie - me playing the lackey (not sure if I have spelt that right but the computer didn't put a red line under it!). Why is it all the women do the reach me, fetch me, and the brewing up!!! Never mind it is still standing (the pergola that is) - even after all this heavy rain!

Before I start there's a couple of pictures Leanne took of the potatoes that we grew in sacks - our first lot - and she picked the blackcurrants from our baby tree, needless to say there wasn't quite enough to make a pie. We live in hope for big things off that blackcurrant bush next year!!!

The potatoes were lovely...

Back to the 'Black and white and' :-

I have used a Stampendous stamp for the first card. This stamp is open to be used with many coloured papers or it would look just as good coloured in with Promarkers. Pale blue spotted card is what I have stamped on and added white paper roses made from a scalloped circle punch.

On my next card I used a jigsaw die cut on the new MME paper which is nice on the spotted side but has brighter stripes on the reverse.

I'm into buttons at the moment and I have a lovely large black spotted for the centre piece tied with some bakers twine. It's a nice change to use a black card to start off with. Will bring along black card to the class and hopefully some of the buttons to sell too.

My last sample is an 8"x 8" card, black and white striped paper and the word 'birthday' cut out with an alphabet die. Just a trimming of colour on the ribbon and on one of the flowers. I have used a touch of yellow on the sample, but changed my mind and put another colour which you will have to wait and see what I have used...
I have used an adhesive ribbon across the middle of the card and I have given everyone on the class a reel to themselves. There is plenty left after making a bow with it as well.

Makes crafting easier when you don't have to add glue!

Hope you like the samples,
off to make some more, just wanted to finish
off with a picture of Charlie...

Just hanging in there!!!
The number of times he has fallen off the back of the chair and looked at us wondering what we did to him!

My next class after the black and white theme is
'Forever Autumn', can't wait to get going on these as I have some brilliant clear stamps from Woodware and some beautiful colours of card stock.

Sat. 12th Oct. -  Forever Autumn

Spaces still on the Christmas class on Sat. 23rd November if anyone would like to come along and for the Christmas decoration class on Sat. 14th Dec.

Thank you for dropping by, take care all.
